A Portuguese brand of Fashion and Art based in Toronto.
It all started in a small town in Portugal.
A record player, some fabric from the town market, and a teenager with a love for fashion.
Despite never formally studying fashion design, Paula Seica spent countless hours developing what has become a brand for the unconventional of all ages. Evangelista fuses design, punk rock, and sustainability.
Much of Evangelista's collections are made in Portugal, in a family-run factory with elevated care for detail and quality.
Disenchanted by the mass made and disposable; Evangelista incorporates its Eco-conscious ideology in both its productive process and resources.
There are three facets to Evangelista.
Collections are created sourcing “dead stock” and surplus from the Portuguese textile industry.
Decreasing landfill waste, excess production and ultimately contributing to a circular economy.
Re-purposing vintage pieces, using offcuts in creating limited editions generating zero waste.
Seica incorporates traditional techniques in her handmade pieces using only Portuguese yarn made of 100% recycled fibers.
Today many Evangelista pieces are made with the same sewing machine Seica used as a teenager.
Today Evangelista is sold in New York and many other North American cities; home to the punk rock music playing on that record player in her small town years ago.
“Evangelista was born as clothing I made for myself. Only after many enquiries, compliments, and requests to repeat pieces for others, did the line actually become a reality.”
